Academic Opportunities
Student Counseling
Pursuant to the 25th article of Mersin University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Exam Regulations, advisors are assigned among the faculty members of the relevant department before the registration period for the students who have newly registered to the university. As well as monitoring the administrative affairs of the student such as determining the course time and grade status, counselors also deal with other problems faced by students as much as possible. The advisors' duty continues until the student leaves the university.
Scholarship Services
The Student Social Assistance Project is being carried out in order to facilitate the education process of students in need at our university. With the project carried out by Mersin University Alumni Association (MERMED), students are provided with free scholarships as a result of the financial support provided by our university's academic and administrative staff and their graduates voluntarily each month. In addition, Breakfast Scholarship is given to students in need who study at our university. The breakfast, which is given to a total of 1500 students, is distributed every day on weekdays in our schools in the center and districts. In a collaboration with Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, some students are provided with a pass to be able to use the city buses free of charge.
The procedures for the loans and scholarships granted by the General Directorate of the Credit and Hostels Institution and the Prime Ministry to the university students who want each year are carried out by the Student Affairs Department.
In-University Transfer
Students who have enrolled in a training program at Mersin University and have succeeded in education have the opportunity to switch to an equivalent program that is more suited to their own wishes, abilities and other special situations during their education. Transfer within the university can be done according to the “Principles of Mersin University Associate and Undergraduate Degree / Transfer Programs”. Applications must be made to the Faculty Dean / School Directorate, which the student wishes to pass, at the beginning of each semester and at least 10 days before classes begin. In addition, the entrance score of the education and training program in which the student is registered must be equal to or higher than the lowest score of the program he / she wants to pass, and the score types must be the same.
Vertical Transfer
Acceptance procedures of graduates of vocational high schools and Open Education associate degree programs are regulated in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on the Continuation of Graduates of the Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs.
The Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) prepares a guide each year, which shows which undergraduate programs of vocational high school and Open Education associate degree students can apply for vertical transfer, the conditions of these programs and the number of students to be enrolled in these programs. Candidates who meet the conditions specified in the relevant regulation and whose applications are accepted are placed according to the results of central examination held by ÖSYM.
Distance Learning
Distance education is an education model where education is carried out regardless of time and place, the computer is used as a learning, presentation and communication tool, and it’s carried out simultaneously or asynchronously depending on whether the teacher and student are interactive at the same time or not. It was applied for the first time at Mersin University in the 2002-2003 academic year, and in the technical programs the first online educational program in the country was carried out by our university. With this application, education opportunities are provided to larger masses who want to receive education. Equal opportunities are created in education.
Information can be conveyed to those who want to learn more in different geographies.
Working students can be provided as much learning opportunities as they want, whenever they want, regardless of time. Distance learning is provided in Computer Technology and Programming, Industrial Electronics, Electronic Communication, Industrial Automation, Business Management and Pharmacy Services programs, which are two-year associate degree programs. The distance education provided is equivalent to formal education programs and based on the monitoring of the same curriculum. The same courses which are offered at associate degree programs in two years and four semesters are offered to distance education students. It is sufficient to have access to a computer and internet use for Distance Education. Through the Distance Education Management System (UEYS), you can follow the lecture notes of the lectures, chat with lecture advisors, establish a mutual synchronous communication in the forum rooms, learn the exam dates, have your visa exams over the internet, and learn your exam or homework results.

In the Distance Education Program, courses are delivered to students in two ways.
First of all, course documents, graphics and animations prepared by the lecturers are made available to students through UEYS. In addition, lesson videos are taken in the studio, which belongs to distance education. These videos contain lecture summaries prepared by lecturers.
Midterm exams are held "online" at the computer in a desired environment with home or internet access, and final exams are held at Mersin University Çiftlikköy Campus on Saturday and Sunday at the end of the semester.
As in all Vocational Schools, internship activity is compulsory in Distance Education Programs. Distance learning students can do internship at any time.
e-Business Administration (e-MBA)
MBA (Master of Business Administration) refers to graduate education in Business Administration. Our university accepts students for the Master of Business Administration (e-Business Administration) program with a distance education model. The Business Administration graduate program, which accepted its first students in the 2009-2010 academic year, generally includes courses such as finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, organization management, information management, and decision-making techniques. The aim of the e-Business non-thesis Master's Program based on distance education technique is to provide students with an opportunity to specialize in basic business management, independent of time and space, by taking advantage of the different educational opportunities offered by information technologies. The fact that the program is independent of time and place offers a suitable alternative and creates demand for many people who cannot find the opportunity to get a graduate degree due to their work hours or work place. There is no interview application for student admission, and the graduate entrance score is calculated by taking 40% of the undergraduate graduation grade average (converted to an evaluation out of 100) and 60% of the ALES equal weight score of the applicants. Students may only need to come to the campus of our university for final exams (in the classes where an in-class exam will be applied), and all other exams, assignments and applications will be carried out over the internet.
ECDL
Our university is one of the authorized test centers of ECDL (European Computer Driving License). ECDL Certificate, adopted in 138 countries of the world and recognized as a universal criterion for computer competencies by public institutions, private sector and international organizations, is the world's leading computer use competence certificate. Within the scope of ECDL courses open to the personnel of Mersin University as well as Mersin University students, and inhabitants of Mersin, a 40-hour course program is implemented. The courses organized for Core, CAD, Web Starter, Image Maker and Expert programs are conducted in ten-person classrooms. In the program consisting of 7 sections covering theory and practice, the first section theoretically tests the sum of knowledge at the general level, while the other sections consist of a practical skill test. The candidate who successfully completes all the sections is entitled to receive the ECDL Basic Certificate.
Education in Summer Semester
It is an educational program implemented during the summer holiday in order to use the educational opportunities outside the fall and spring semesters. The aim is to enable successful students to graduate in a shorter period of time by taking courses from the following academic year, to enable students to take courses that they could not take or fail due to various reasons, and to increase the efficiency of education by eliminating student accumulation in classes. The education period of the summer semester is seven weeks excluding the exams. For each course opened in the summer semester, the total number of lessons is the same as the ones taught in the normal semesters. The courses to be opened in the summer semester are determined by the request of the lecturer who gave the course in the normal semester, the relevant department / department's approval and the decision of the relevant Faculty / School / Institute Board.
Minor and Double Major Program
Students who successfully carry out Mersin University undergraduate programs have the opportunity to study in another branch of interest (Minor Program) or to get a bachelor's degree in a second branch (Double Major Program). Minor and Double Major programs are opened upon the proposal of the relevant department and the Faculty / School Board and the approval of the University Senate. Minor program consists of at least 18 credits and double major program consists of at least 36 credits. Both programs cover all the courses of the related major (department / program) program.
Foreign Students
Foreign students are admitted to our university. Foreign students who want to study at the undergraduate level can apply to our university for registration with the result of the Foreign Students Exam (YÖS) conducted by ÖSYM or the international examination accepted by the Higher Education Council as the equivalent of Yös. Students who want to study postgraduate should apply directly to our university. Foreign students who wish to enroll in our university must be high school or equivalent vocational school graduates and their diplomas must be approved by the Ministry of Education. In addition, the time for foreign students admitted to the programs whose language of instruction is Turkish to start their education after enrollment depends on the results obtained from the Turkish Test.
Foreign language
English, German or French are taught as a foreign language or a second foreign language in the first year of the units of our Foreign Language University, which are studied at the undergraduate and undergraduate level. Foreign Language in the departments / programs with a Foreign Language Preparatory Program The duration of the Preparatory Program is not included in the education period.In many departments and programs affiliated to faculties, colleges and vocational schools (one year compulsory (foreign language preparation program or one year (optional) foreign language preparation program within the quota is applied.
Erasmus Program
Our university signed the European Union Higher Education Agreement 'Erasmus Statement' in 2004 and gained its students 'European identity'. . Within the scope of the Erasmus program, 65 bilateral agreements have been signed so far; Since 2004, nearly 250 of our students have had the opportunity to study at various universities abroad as part of the Erasmus student exchange program. Also during this period, a large number of students from abroad were trained at our university; Within the scope of teaching staff exchange, our lecturers have taught at universities abroad.
Farabi Exchange Program

Farabi Exchange Program in Brief "Farabi Exchange Program called" Between Higher Education Institutions in Turkey Student and Faculty Exchange Program, universities and high technology institutes within the associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral level education that institutions of higher education among students and faculty is a member exchange program. Farabi Exchange Program aims for students or faculty members to continue their education and training activities in a higher education institution other than their own institutions for one or two semesters. The principles regarding the implementation of the Farabi Exchange Program are determined in detail by the Regulation and Principles and Procedures. Studies have started in our university under the Farabi Exchange Program. A web page has been prepared and Farabi Exchange Protocols are signed with various universities.
