School of Applied Technology and Management of Erdemli
GENERAL INFORMATION
Our college started education in the departments of “Business Information Management” and “Computer Technology and Information Systems” in 2005, being the first college among state universities, and produced its first graduates in 2010. In 2010, the Department of Business Information Management also started postgraduate education.
The Department of Business Information Management postgraduate program was opened in 2010 and as of the Spring Semester of the 2010-2011 Academic Year, the Department of Business Information Management accepted students to the Master's program and continues to provide education and training services. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate education can study in postgraduate programs provided that they receive a passing grade from the ALES exam, have sufficient English language knowledge and pass the science exam. With the decision taken at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated 11.03.2020, the name of the Department of Business Information Management was changed to the Department of Management Information Systems. Our department accepts students according to equal weight points and the language of education is Turkish.
The aim of our Computer Technology and Information Systems department is to train individuals with the knowledge and skills to design, manage, develop and program computer-based systems.
Our departments aim to provide a practical education strengthened in cooperation with the industry based on the principles of creating “social benefit” and “local development”.
Our graduates do not experience any problems as they are equipped with sufficient knowledge and skills in both finding a job in private and public institutions and in establishing their own businesses.
TRANSPORTATION
Our college campus is on the main road and transportation is provided by private minibuses operating between Mersin and Erdemli on the Mersin-Erdemli route and Metropolitan Municipality buses (lines 156 and 170). In addition, minibuses providing transportation from neighborhoods to the district center also operate. In addition, students can benefit from municipal buses and minibuses at a discount with their Mersin University student IDs.
ACCOMMODATION
The dormitory applications of first-year students and intermediate students who have taken the Higher Education Institutions Exam and become eligible to enter a higher education program for the first time are made via e-government after the exam results are announced by the Student Selection and Placement Center. Students who could not complete their education during the normal education period have been provided with the opportunity to stay in dormitories for another academic year, and these students will be able to apply together with intermediate students.
There are generally 4-person rooms in the Erdemli Kız Kalesi girls' and boys' dormitory, which operates under the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories Institution of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In addition, our initiatives to create new accommodation opportunities are ongoing. In the dormitory rooms, which are described by students as state dormitories, the study area and the areas where the beds are located are separated from each other. In addition to study desks, the dormitory rooms have toilets, bathrooms, mini refrigerators, nightstands and wardrobes. There are service places such as restaurants and canteens so that students staying in our dormitories can have a healthy, balanced and cheap diet. There is a distance of 3.2 km between our college and the student dormitory. A stand will be set up at the entrance of our College building regarding the subject, and detailed information will be provided and necessary guidance will be provided. In addition, a survey will be conducted with newly admitted students to our College, and students in need of accommodation and scholarship will be identified and directed to the necessary places.
Applications for students placed in a higher education program with additional quota by ÖSYM, students who started their education again by benefiting from the amnesty within the scope of Law No. 7143, graduate students, horizontal/vertical transfer students, students participating in domestic and international exchange programs, undergraduate completion students and international students who do not have a scholarship are made via e-government within the period determined by the General Directorate.
It would be useful for students who cannot be placed in the dormitory as a result of their application or are on the reserve list to contact the General Directorate of Credits and Dormitories Erdemli Kızkalesi Dormitory Directorate at 0324 515 22 48 in order to solve their accommodation problem.
