Our center was established in accordance with the Mersin University Nuclear Sciences Application and Research Center Regulation, published in the Official Gazette dated June 7, 2021, and numbered 31504.

Nuclear sciences play a vital role in many fields, including energy production, medicine, industry, agriculture, and the environment. Nuclear energy, in particular, is an environmentally friendly and sustainable energy source with low carbon emissions compared to fossil fuels. Nuclear technologies are also used in radiotherapy and imaging techniques in medicine, making significant contributions to cancer treatment and diagnosis.

At the same time, it is clear that the use of nuclear energy will contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions. Nuclear sciences are crucial for both Türkiye and Mersin to achieve their goals of economic growth, energy independence, and environmental protection.
